Atenţie! Aceasta eroare poate apare şi din cauza faptului că Windows nu are spaţiu liber pentru fişierul de swap.

În acest caz trebuie să pornim calculatorul de pe un CD sau stick bootabil cu Bart PE sau Linux cu acces la NTFS şi să ştergem o parte din fişierele temporare ale Windows-ului.

Pentru a scăpa de eroarea Windows could not start because the following files is missing or corrupt \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM urmaţi paşii de mai jos:

Introduceţi CD-ul cu Windows XP în unitatea optică şi reporniţi sistemul (setaţi din BIOS ca PC-ul să pornească de pe CD).

În momentul în care sunteţi întrebat dacă vreţi să reparaţi sistemul de operare, apăsaţi pe R.

Apăsaţi tasta corespunzătoare cifrei care reprezintă locaţia corectă a Windows-ului pe care doriţi să-l reparaţi (dacă aveţi un singur sistem de operare, apăsaţi tasta 1).

Introduceţi parola de administrator (dacă nu aveţi o parolă setată, apăsaţi Enter).

cd \windows\system32\config

ren system system.bad

copy \windows\repair\system

exit

Scoateţi CD-ul din unitate.

Administrative Tools folder is empty

Symptom

When you open the Administrative Tools folder in the Start Menu, the shortcuts in the folder may be missing.

This article is applicable for Windows XP systems only.

Cause

This happens due to one of these reasons:

•The Administrative Tools shell folder path is incorrectly set.

•The Administrative Tools shortcuts are deleted accidentally or by a malware/virus or a utility remover.

Solution for Case 1

Important: Backup the registry before modifying it.

•Start Regedit.exe and navigate to the following locations one by one:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders

-and-

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Shell Folders

•Delete the value named Common Administrative Tools (if present).

•Close regedit.exe and restart Windows.

See if the shortcuts in the Administrative Tools folder are restored. If not, see Solution 2 below.

Automate

The utility AdminTools (~8kb) restores the missing shortcuts to the Administrative Tools folder.

Creating the shortcuts manually

To re-create the shortcuts manually, refer this table. Re-create the shortcuts in the following folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Administrative Tools

Launching Hiren’s BootCD from USB Flash Drive

To launch Hiren’s BootCD from USB flash drive, first of all, your BIOS settings should be configured in order to change the boot order of your computer to USB drive. If you are having problem on changing boot order in BIOS, please refer Change the Boot Order in BIOS document. Please note that some computers may not support booting from USB drive and the steps below only works for the versions of Hiren’s BootCD 9.7 or newer.
Step 1: Formating USB Flash Drive

Please note that, all data on your usb flash drive will be lost. Before doing this step, don’t forget to backup your files on the usb flash drive.
1. Connect a 512 MB or above flash drive.
2. Download and run USB Disk Storage Format (34 KB). Follow the steps in the screenshots below:

Step 2: Installing Grub4Dos to USB Flash Drive
Download grub4dos.zip (187 KB) to desktop. Follow the steps below:

1. Right click to the zip file and click 'Extract All...' 2. Click Next
3. Click Next to extract archive contents 4. Click Finish

Now open ‘grub4dos’ folder created on your desktop. Run ‘grubinst_gui.exe’ inside of grub4dos folder and follow the steps below:

1. Run grub4dos

2. Click 'Run' on if you face with a Security Warning window

3. If you are not sure which disk is your USB Flash Drive, select the drive with the same size with your USB flash drive.

4. Installation of grub4dos completed. Press Enter to close the window.

Partition Tools

IDG News Service - An unpatched Yahoo Messenger vulnerability that allows attackers to change people's status messages and possibly perform other unauthorized actions can be exploited to spam malicious links to a large number of users.

The vulnerability was discovered in the wild by security researchers from antivirus vendor BitDefender while investigating a customer's report about unusual Yahoo Messenger behavior.

The flaw appears to be located in the application's file transfer API (application programming interface) and allows attackers to send malformed requests that result in the execution of commands without any interaction from victims.

"An attacker can write a script in less than 50 lines of code to malform the message sent via the YIM protocol to the victim," said Bogdan Botezatu, an e-threats analysis & communication specialist at BitDefender.

According to the antivirus vendor, Yahoo was notified about the vulnerability through the appropriate channels. However, the company did not immediately respond to a request for comment sent by IDG.

Until this vulnerability is fixed, users can protect themselves by configuring Yahoo Messenger to ignore anyone who is not in their Messenger list. However, this option will not prevent attacks from their current contacts.

Multe din problemele dvs. din domeniul IT sau al calculatoarelor personale pot fi rezolvate imediat sau cat mai repede cu putinta, cu putin suport din partea unui specialist care va poate oferi asistenta it prin intermediul conexiunii la internet (mail sau mesagerie instantanee) sau telefonic. Poti beneficia de aceasta asistenta pentru a putea adauga o noua componenta in calculator, pentru a inlocui o componenta veche din calculator cu una noua, pentru a instala un driver ori a configura un email sau orice alta aplicatie, etc.

Accesul de la distanta pe calculator sau PC remote acces - permite unei persoane ce acorda asistenta de la distanta sa acceseze calculatorul dvs. DOAR daca aveti o conexiune functionala la Internet si sa rezolve probleme pe care le intampinati.

Folosind softul de remote acces (accesati legatura urmatoare pentru a vedea instructiunile) TeamViewer soft folosit de foarte multe firme din domeniu la nivel mondial dar si de milioane de utilizatori, va faciliteaza beneficiul instant de asistenta it sau suport it. Nu trebuie sa faceti altceva decat sa descarcati un mic programel de pe site-ul firmei producatoare a softului si sa il rulati.

TeamViewer poate fi folosit pentru controlul de la distanta al computerelor folosind Internet-ul, efectuare transfer de fisiere, executare programe, chat, videoconferinta audio-video, etc. Utilizarea programului este extrem de facila si nu necesita o configurare initiala obligatorie. Tot ceea ce aveti de facut este sa va asigurati intai ca sunteti logat ca administrator pe PC-ul pe care doriti sa instalati aplicatia. Pentru rularea ei nu sunt necesare drepturi de administrator. Mecanismul de conectare este urmatorul: la pornire, programul TeamViewer se va conecta la un server al companiei producatoare, dupa care fiecare calculator va primi un ID ce va fi permanent pana la dezinstalarea programului si o parola furnizata aleator de fiecare data cand deschidem o sesiune de conectare. Deci pentru conectarea a doua calculatoare este neaparata nevoie de conexiune la Internet si nu putem folosi programul intr-un intranet. Conectarea se face astfel: cand dorim ca cineva sa se conecteze la calculatorul nostru, pentru a putea urmari o prezentare sau pentru a ne oferi asistenta tehnica, lansam programul in executie, asteptam sa ni se furnizeze ID-ul si parola. Acestea le furnizam celeilate persoane si conexiunea poate fi realizata. Sesiunea de conectare poate fi realizata pentru "presentation" (ex. prezentam cuiva un un document sau un program), "VPN" (Virtual Private Network ), "File transfer" (transfer de fisiere).Printre problemele intalnite la aplicatiile de control la distanta se afla firewall-urile, blocarea porturilor si rutarea lor pentru adresele IP. TeamViewer ne scuteste de astfel de griji, el gasind intotdeauna o ruta spre partenerul dumneavoastra. Conexiunea este extrem de sigura, deoarece foloseste pentru transmiterea datelor o sesiune criptata AES (256 Bit). Daca conexiunea dumneavoastra la Internet nu este tocmai una destul de buna, puteti selecta optiunea “Optimize speed”, pentru a nu exista o devansare intre operatiunile executate pe calculatorul cuiva la distanta si imaginea pe care o vedeti pe propriul calculator. Daca din contra, viteza conexiunii la Internet e una rapida, puteti selecta optiunea de optimizare a calitatii “Optimize quality”, sau selectarea automata a acesteia “Automatic quality selection”. Aplicatia poate fi folosita nu doar pentru controlul computerelor si serverelor ci si pentru instalarea sau dezinstalarea altor aplicatii chiar daca este nevoie de restart si reconectare.

Pluginul Sopcast functioneaza numai in Internet Explorer (in Opera sau FireFox nu functioneaza chiar daca aveti instalat IE TAB )

Dupa instalarea pluginului faceti refresh la pagina sau inchideti si redeschideti browserul ! Pentru vizionare in Full Screen faceti dublu click pe player. In caz ca va apare mesajul "can not retrive data" incercati sa inchideti restul programelor si sa dati refresh la pagina cu postul tv respectiv.

Daca va apare imaginea de mai jos, dati click dreapta pe bara de culoare galbena si selectati "Run ActiveX Control" pentru a permite rularea plugin-ului Tv in Internet Explorer.

Important: Cu anumite versiuni de SopCast si pe anumite sisteme s-au raportat probleme de incompatibilitate. Astfel este posibil de exemplu ca in cazul in care aveti antivirusul BitDefender cu modulul firewall activat, sa dea eroare crash la Internet Explorer in momentul in care incarcati pluginul. O rezolvare este sa opriti temporar modulul de firewall sau sa folositi alt antivirus care este compatibil cu Sopcast ( de ex. Kaspersky Antivirus sau Nod32 functioneaza foarte bine, problema fiind doar un bug la BitDefender si speram sa se rezolve in viitor ). DE asemenea e posibl ca AVG sa raporteze o activitate suspicioasa a ActiveX si sa-l blocheze in consecinta ! In acest caz recomand sa folositi alti antivirusi mai capabili, care sa nu dea erori false !!! ( plugin-ul functioneaza in sistem p2p, asadar este normal sa creeze conexiuni multiple )

Pentru a functiona si pe calculatorul vostru trebuie sa aveti instalat Windows Media Player 10 si plugin-ul Sopcast Tv-U View TV.

- Sopcast TV-U View TV plugin 4.9 sau 2 - aici sau 3 - aici sau 4 - aici ( compatibil Windows XP si Vista )
- Windows Media Player v.10 (in cazul in care aveti Windows Vista nu mai este necesara instalarea lui)
- WMP Pixelfusion Plugin este un plugin WMP ce imbunatateste imaginea redata de tv online - il gasiti aici.
- VLC Web Player ( necesar la unele posturi TV ).

Pentru Full Screen, apasati dublu click pe imagine. Pentru a reveni la marimea normala a ferestrei apasati butonul ESC de la tastatura.
Cerinte: Conexiunea minima necesara este de 512 Kbps (recomandat 1,5 Mbps) si asteptati intre 10 - 60 secunde pana ce se initiaza conexiunea !

Here is a list of popular free software applications that run on Microsoft Windows — along with the proprietary applications they replace. If you are still a Windows user, you can take a first step towards free software by installing these applications.

When we say these application programs are free software, we're talking about freedom, not price. It means that you are free to use these programs constructively, either alone or in a community, while respecting the freedom of others. The source code is available, so that you can study the software, adapt it to your needs, fix bugs, and release versions with new features. You can also convince or pay others to do these things for you. You are also free to give away and free to sell copies, under the terms of the applicable free software license. These programs are free software because you have freedom in using them. Free software develops under the control of its users.

Microsoft Windows is a clear and instructive example of nonfree software. Its source code is a secret, so programmers cannot learn from it, fix it, adapt it to their clients (your) needs, or even verify what it really does. If you share copies with your neighbors, you will be called a "pirate", and users have been threatened with imprisonment for this. Nonfree software is completely controlled by its developer, who also has power over the users.

Using free software on Microsoft Windows (or any nonfree operating system) is the first step towards freedom, but it does not get you all the way there. You're still under Microsoft's power as long as you use Windows.

So the next step is to replace Windows with a free operating system such as GNU/Linux.

However, on this page we're concerned with the first step.

Blender 3D

Replacement for: Maya, 3DSMax

Blender is the first and only fully integrated 3D graphics creation suite allowing modeling, animation, rendering, post-production, realtime interactive 3D and game creation and playback with cross-platform compatibility.

Dia

Replacement for: Microsoft Visio

Dia is designed to be much like the proprietary Microsoft program 'Visio'. It can be used to draw many different kinds of diagrams. It currently has special objects to help draw entity relationship diagrams, UML diagrams, flowcharts, network diagrams, and simple circuits. It is also possible to add support for new shapes by writing simple XML files, using a subset of SVG to draw the shape.

It can load and save diagrams to a custom XML format (gzipped by default, to save space), can export diagrams to EPS or SVG formats and can print diagrams (including ones that span multiple pages).

Pidgin

Replacement for: Trillian, AIM, MSN, Yahoo and ICQ chat clients

Pidgin (gaim) is a multi-protocol instant messaging client, with support for:

MSN Messenger,
Yahoo,
IRC,
Jabber,
Novell,
Gadu-Gadu, and
Zephyr networks.

Pidgin also supports plugins, for additional functionality.

GIMP

Replacement for: Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro

GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.

GIMP is expandable and extensible. It is designed to be augmented with plug-ins and extensions to do just about anything.

Anyone who is familiar with the GNU/Linux operating system has probably seen/used the GIMP at some stage. In terms of compatibility, GIMP can open/manipulate the PhotoShop PSD format and the Paint Shop Pro PSP format.

GNUnet

Replacement for: Napster, etc.

GNUnet is a framework for secure peer-to-peer networking that does not use any centralized or otherwise trusted services. A first service implemented on top of the networking layer allows anonymous censorship-resistant file-sharing. GNUnet uses a simple, excess-based economic model to allocate resources. Peers in GNUnet monitor each others behavior with respect to resource usage; peers that contribute to the network are rewarded with better service.

Inkscape

Replacement for: Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, CorelDraw or Xara Xtreme Inkscape is an vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw, or Xara Xtreme using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format. Supported SVG features include shapes, paths, text, markers, clones, alpha blending, transforms, gradients, patterns, and grouping.

Inkscape also supports Creative Commons meta-data, node editing, layers, complex path operations, bitmap tracing, text-on-path, flowed text, direct XML editing, and more. It imports formats such as JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and others and exports PNG as well as multiple vector-based formats.

MinGW

Replacement for: Microsoft Visual C++

MinGW (Minimalist GNU for Windows) provides many of the GNU programming utilities on Windows. It includes the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC), Binutils, Gnu Debugger (GDB), make, and more.

Application:

Mozilla Thunderbird

Replacement for: Outlook, Outlook Express

Versatile and modular e-mail client. Supports themes and extensions to customise and increase its functionality. Has integrated "smart" spam filter, to cut down significantly on spam mail. Also integrates (via EnigMail extension) seamlessly with GNU GPG.

LibreOffice

Replacement for: Microsoft Office

LibreOffice is a multi-platform office productivity suite compatible with all major file formats.

Scribus

Replacement for: PageMaker, InDesign, QuarkXPress

Scribus is a desktop publishing application, like Adobe PageMaker or Adobe InDesign from the proprietary software world. It is free software, distributed under the terms of the Gnu General Public License.

Scribus supports many major graphic formats including most all of the standard ones used in DTP in addition to SVG import and export.

VideoLAN Client (VLC)

Replacement for: Windows Media Player, PowerDVD

VLC (initially VideoLAN Client) is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols. It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.

This is a selection of the more common free software applications available for the Microsoft Windows platform, and is nothing like a comprehensive list.

Free GNU-Linux distributions

Following are the GNU/Linux distributions I know of which have a firm policy commitment to only include and only propose free software. They reject non-free applications, non-free programming platforms, non-free drivers, or non-free firmware “blobs”. If by mistake they do include any, they remove it. New gTLDs - The Next Generation of domain names

Ever since its inception, the Internet has been evolving, and with the recent announcement of the New Global Top Level Domains (New gTLDs) by ICANN, it will soon be possible to get your very own TLD. Unlike traditional domain names, such as example.com, the domain name is always preceded by a TLD extension, such as .com .
The New gTLD is very different to traditional domain names, and by registering your very own gTLD, you could register your brand, product, service, region or name in the top level name space.

Now is your chance to become one of the first to apply for your own New TLD. According to the most recent revision of the ICANN gTLD Guidebook, the New gTLD domain names applications will be accepted under the following categories:

BRAND NAME / TRADE NAME / TRADEMARK / REGISTERED TRADEMARK
GEOGRAPHIC REGION

The New gTLDs will also provide you with the option of registering your TLD using both the traditional Latin based characters (English Characters), or in the IDN (Internationalized Domain Name) format. This means your TLD can be used to target a specific demographic.

New gTLD Timeline

The New gTLD has been a work in progress. ICANN intend to launch the New gTLD program at the ICANN Conference held in Singapore in June 2011. This time line is a visual representation of the time required for a gTLD application to be registered into a Top Level Domain (TLD).

Final Approval of the ICANN Guidebook (June 2011)

We are now in this period, and ICANN are in the final stages of publishing the final New gTLD Guidebook. Once formally approved, it is expected that ICANN will announce the roll out of the New gTLD program at the ICANN Conference in Singapore.

Communication Period / Application Window Period (June 2011 to March 2012)

This period represents the time that ICANN will accept the first 500 initial gTLD applications for the New gTLD program.

gTLD Applications Publicly Announced (Expected March 2012)

This period is when ICANN will publicly announce the gTLD applications they have received. This is necessary to allow for third parties to place objections to any specific gTLD application.

Public Registration of gTLD (Expected October 2012)

This period represents the first registration of the New gTLDs, and the delegation of the New gTLDs into the live DNS. This period also represents a new era of the Internet and Domain Names, and it will be recognized as a major milestone of the evolution of the Internet.

MS Internet Explorer 8.0 beta 2

With Internet Explorer 8 arrived in 2008, Microsoft has taken a huge step forward this week by announcing the first public beta of the new browser.

Predictably named 'Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1' the browser won't be the radical (and much needed) overhaul seen between IE6 and IE7. Instead the primary difference will be 'Acid2' compatibility - in a nutshell: compliance with universal web standards so that everything on a web page looks and works as it should. This sounds obvious but, with designers constantly having to configure sites to work with multiple browsers, it isn't and should solve a vast array of programming problems and speed web page design. Firefox 3 will also pass Acid2 tests.

In addition to this, IE8 will also add ACR (automatic crash recovery) - saving your web pages in event of a crash - something most other browsers have had for years, expand its phishing filter (and rename it 'Safety Filter') to encompass malware threats and add a context sensitive right click menu (postcodes offer map searches, etc).

În urma unor instalări sau modificări făcute de noi în configuraţia calculatorului, la următoarea repornire, observăm că ne apare ecranul de login care ne cere să introducem parola. Acest ecran nu ne mai apăruse înainte şi dorim să revenim la starea iniţială. Cum procedăm:
Click pe butonul Start, click pe comanda Run şi scriem comanda: control userpasswords2

Se debifează opţiunea "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer"
Facem click pe butonul Apply
Introducem user-ul şi parola pe care vrem ca Windows-ul să se logheze automat de fiecare dată când pornim PC-ul (acest lucru este opţional), apoi click OK.
NU E OBLIGATORIU SĂ INTRODUCEM O PAROLĂ! PUTEM LĂSA LIBER LA PAROLĂ DACĂ NU E CAZUL SĂ AVEM O PAROLĂ! Merge şi fără.

Fiecare calculator (cunoscut ca HOST), pe internet are cel puțin o adresă IP unică, care îl identifică între toate computerele de pe internet. Serviciul de transmitere a datelor identifică fiecare interfață logică a echipamentelor conectate printr-un număr numit "adresă IP". Fiecare adresă identifică o rețea (network) și o stație de lucru (work station) din cadrul reţelei. Adresa IP este utilizată la nivelul programelor de prelucrare în reţea. Fiecare gazdă şi router din internet are o adresă IP, care codifică adresa sa de reţea şi de gazdă. Combinaţia este unică: în principiu nu există două maşini cu aceeaşi adresă IP.
Câteodată, în anumite situaţii avem nevoie să ştim ce adresă IP are o placă de reţea a unui calculator.

Cum aflăm această adresă:

Click cu mouse-ul pe butonul Start, apoi pe comanda Run şi scriem: cmd /k ipconfig apoi se apasă Enter. IP-ul va fi afişat imediat pe ecran, de forma:
